It is really important that everyone is put into the right group and that everyone receives the level of benefit and support they are entitled to by law. To be entitled to ESA and to be put in the work-related activity group you need to score at least 15 points in total.

Why have I been sent an ESA50 form?

You will be sent form ESA50 in the post, usually within 4 weeks of your first payment. The ESA50 form is a capability for work questionnaire and is your chance to tell DWP how your health condition, disability or illness affects your ability to work.

What qualifies for limited capability for work?

To be assessed as having a limited capability for work, you need to score 15 points or more. Add together the highest score from each activity that applies to you. The assessment takes into account your abilities when using any aid or appliance you would normally or could reasonably be expected to use.

How do I get an ESA50 form?

After youve applied for ESA, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will usually send you a form called the capability for work questionnaire. Its also called the ESA50. Youll usually get the form about 2 or 3 months after you apply for ESA.

What is the difference between UC50 and ESA50?

When you claim Employment and Support Allowance, you are sent a Limited Capability for Work (LCW) questionnaire (ESA50) to complete and return. When you claim Universal Credit and submit sick notes, you will be sent a UC50 to fill out.

What is the highest payment you can get on ESA?

After you have been assessed, if you are eligible for New Style ESA, you will be placed in either the work-related activity group, or the support group. From April 2024 - March 2025 the payments are: up to 126.45 a week if you are in the work-related activity group. up to 138.20 a week if you are in the support group

What does 15 points mean for ESA?
