All adults accompanying a Scouting unit who are present at the activity for 72 total hours or more must be registered as leaders. The 72 hours need not be consecutive. [(Effective September 1, 2023) Two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required at all Scouting activities, including all meetings.
There needs to be a current set of vital signs (i.e. blood pressure, heart and respiratory rate, body temperature, etc.) Part C is only required for participation in events lasting longer than 72 hours, all Boy Scouts of America participants are encouraged to complete this pre-participation to the activity.
The current BSA Annual Health and Medical Record, a three part (A, B and C) medical history and physical evaluation form, is required for all Scouts and adults attending resident camp.
A pre-participation physical is needed for long-term camps or for a Scouting event of more than 72 hours, such as Wood Badge and NYLT. The exam needs to be completed by a certified and licensed physician (MD, DO), nurse practitioner, or physician assistant.
Forms must be updated annually. They are good for one year until the last day of the month that you had your physical. For example, if your physical was on June 16, 2022, that physical is good until June 30, 2023. A form in which the physical was done on August 6, 2022 is good until August 31, 2023.
