The focus of the interview is past and current alcohol and drug use, specifically as it relates to driving history. Defendant responses are checked against the driving record, the Objective Test score, the results of the chemical testing, and possibly other corroborative sources.
The first step is to gather information about the persons use of alcohol or drugs. The second step is to assess the persons level of use. The third step is to determine if the person is addicted to alcohol or drugs. The fourth and final step is to provide treatment if needed.
The DUI evaluation will determine the risk classification of one of the following: minimal risk, moderate risk, docHub risk, or high risk. The purpose of this evaluation is to determine the degree of the defendants alcohol and/or drug use and what risk that poses to public safety.
1) How often do you have a drink containing alcohol? 2) How many drinks containing alcohol do you have on a typical day when you are drinking? 3) How often do you have 5 or more drinks on one occasion? 4) How often during the last year have you found that you were not able to stop drinking once you had started?
There are 4 primary DUI risk classifications that can result from the evaluation. These include minimal, moderate, docHub, and high risk. Based on your classification, the evaluator will decide on a recommendation. The recommendation must be communicated to the Court or Secretary of State.
