Ownership of a horse may be established in a Bill of Sale, a written agreement between the seller and buyer (or agents such as trainers or bloodstock agents) or by contract construction. Many states now require the use of a written Bill of Sale in connection with most horse sales.

For horses with an Active USEF Recording (with or without USHJA) - $60 The transfer fee of $60 must be submitted with the USEF Horse Recording Certificate signed by the last recorded owner(s) or a copy of the Bill of Sale signed by the last USEF recorded owner(s).
You can complete change of ownership applications online via General Stud Book Online. Alternatively, please download, complete and return the Non-Racing/Non-Breeding Change of Ownership form below, together with the horses passport and the indicated fee.
If you are a current AQHA or AQHYA member, the cost to transfer ownership is $40. If you are not a current member: Youth ownership transfer: $25 (membership) + $40 (transfer) = $65. General ownership transfer: $65 (membership) + $40 (transfer) = $105.
