Roadworthy Certificate Victoria The owner of the vehicle must provide a current roadworthiness certificate to the buyer, unless the buyer is a spouse or a motor vehicle trader. A vehicle can be sold without an RWC if it is not registered however If a used vehicle is being re-registered an RWC will be needed.
Download and print the vehicle transfer form (External link) (PDF) and get the buyer to fill it in. Then you can enter the buyers details into your myVicRoads account later. Log into myVicRoads and complete the transfer online with the buyer.
Youll need an original Certificate of Roadworthiness (RWC) issued within 30 days of your registration appointment. Some vehicles and transfer types dont need a roadworthy - visit vehicle exemptions for more information.
Commence the registration transfer online: To give VicRoads notice of the disposal, log into your myVicRoads account and select the vehicle you wish to transfer hit transfer vehicle then follow the prompts you will need your buyers Victorian licence number or VicRoads customer number.
When you transfer a registered vehicle, you are required to pay a transfer fee, motor vehicle duty (MVD) and provide a roadworthy certificate (RWC) unless exempt.
