How long can you get student allowance for?
If youre under 40, you can get a Student Allowance for 200 weeks of tertiary study (around 5 years). If youre over 40, you can get a Student Allowance for 120 weeks of tertiary study (around 3 years). This includes any weeks of Student Allowance youve had before.
How does parental income affect NZ allowance?
If your parents joint earnings are more than $69,935.32 a year before tax, the rate you get for Student Allowance goes down. You cant get a Student Allowance if their joint earnings while you study are more than: $127,701.81 if you live with them.
How many years can a student receive financial aid?
You can receive the Pell Grant for no more than 12 terms or the equivalent (roughly six years). This is called the Federal Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU). Youll receive a notice if youre getting close to your limit. If you have any questions, contact your schools financial aid office.
What is the maximum weekly student loan?
You can get up to $323.43 a week for living costs but you dont have to borrow the full amount. When you apply for living costs you can choose to get the Consumer Price Index (CPI) adjustment on 1 April each year.
