Unless specifically exempted by statute, any Illinois resident who acquires or possesses firearms, firearm ammunition, a stun gun or a taser within the state of Illinois must have in their possession a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card or Illinois Concealed Carry License (ILCCL) issued in their name.
An Illinois Concealed Carry License (CCL) is required to concealed carry a firearm in Illinois. Applicants must be 21 or older. The license permits the licensee to carry a loaded or unloaded handgun on or about the person completely or mostly concealed from view of the public or on or about a person within a vehicle.
What is the cost for an Illinois Concealed Carry License? The fees are (non-refundable per 430 ILCS 66/60) $150 for Illinois residents and $300 for out-of-state residents. The ISP uses Illinois ePay. Illinois ePay applies a 2.25% service fee, or a minimum of $1.00 for credit/debit cards.
