12 months combined workshop and skills training and at a minimum 6 months approved sea time with completion of TRB, OR. 36 months of combined workshop and skills training and approved seagoing service of which not less than 30 months is in the engine department.
Two completely different tiers of education. Electrician is vocational school (same as deckhands and officers), ETO is university (same level of education as chief engineer and master).
