Welcome to the new Indiana State Central Collection Unit website. INSCCU acts as the State Disbursement Unit (SDU) for the State of Indiana and has been established to facilitate processing child support payments.
The obligation to pay child support does not end when a parent is incarcerated. An incarcerated parent is still obligated to pay child support unless he or she asks the court to reduce or suspend child support payments while incarcerated.
It is a Class C Felony if the amount of unpaid support due and owing for one or more children is at least $15,000. A Class D Felony is punishable by 1/2 to 3 years imprisonment and/or a fine of $10,000.
In Indiana, the noncustodial parent's child support obligation automatically ends when a child turns 19. At the age of 19, a child is "emancipated by operation of law" (meaning, no longer entitled to financial support from a parent because of the passage of time) unless the child is incapacitated.
Indiana's Statute of Limitations on Back Child Support Payments (Arrears) Indiana limits enforcement of child support orders to 10 years after the child turns 18 years old or the date of emancipation, whichever is earlier. The statute of limitations for Indiana child support judgments is 20 years.

Parents are required to pay maintenance until a child is self-supporting. The court determines how much a child needs. If maintenance isn't paid, the court can take the money from the maintenance payer's salary, their investment account, auction their property or issue a warrant of arrest.
