Do you qualify for free tuition? Heres a checklist: Youre a U.S. citizen or eligible undocumented student. Youre an Illinois resident. Your family income or assets total $75,000 or less. Youre admitted as a new first-year or new transfer student. Youre an undergraduate seeking your first baccalaureate degree.
All applicants undergo a competitive admissions process involving the review of transcripts, teacher and counselor evaluations, student essays, and SAT or ACT scores. Historically, approximately one-third of applicants in any given year are admitted.
Illinois Promise will fund the estimated cost of tuition and fees, food and housing, and books and supplies through grants and scholarships and by asking you to work approximately 10 to 12 hours a week.
The RCC Promise program is part of a state and nationwide effort to provide affordable education. Full-time eligible students recieve free no-fee tuition and fees, support for textbooks, priority registration, access to educational and faculty advisors, activities and a dedicated community. Certain restrictions apply.
Eligibility Criteria Students must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for Illinois Promise. You and your parent(s) must be Illinois residents. You must have attended and graduated from an Illinois high school. You must be under the age of 24 and admitted as a new freshman or new transfer student.
