A Retroactive Withdrawal (RW) is a petition request for undergraduate students to appeal for course(s) to be retroactively withdrawn from their transcript due to an unforeseen circumstance during that semester.
A Retroactive Withdrawal refers to the removal of a past term from an academic record after the withdrawal deadline for that term. This means the entire term of courses and grades will be removed from the record.
Retroactive actions include any action or change to a students academic record that alters information in a term after the start of finals for that term. Petitions for retroactive changes are governed by the Academic Senate Committee on Grade Changes (Grade Change Committee).
You can apply for retrospective withdrawal from a unit if you have not completed the requirements due to exceptional circumstances. Exceptional circumstances may arise from medical, family, personal, employment or course-related reasons that: are beyond your control.
What is a Retroactive Withdrawal? The Retroactive Withdrawal process allows students to petition to withdraw from all or some classes in one or more terms after those terms have ended. If permission is granted, the result is that all failing grades (F, WU or IC) for those terms are changed to WX grades.

People also ask

Agreed. A withdrawal on a transcript does not get factored into GPA, but any grade, even an F gets factored. Too much withdrawal in a transcript will raise some questions, unless you have a very legit reason. One or two is alright.
Attach a typed, personal explanation of your emergency or circumstances, explaining how the circumstances came to be and how they impacted your academic success. Attach supporting documentation. If you are petitioning due to a medical or mental health concern, you may provide a letter from your doctor or therapist.
If, at any time after the petition is filed, the petitioner desires to withdraw the same, he shall file with the hearing clerk (or, if filed during the course of a hearing, with the judge) a written request for permission to withdraw.
