To qualify for Carer's Allowance, you must: Spend at least 35 hours a week caring for a disabled person (it does not matter whether or not you live with them). The 35 hours can include time spent physically helping or doing practical things like supporting them to eat or keeping an eye on them.
How much could I get? Carer's Allowance is worth £69.70 per week for April 2022 to 2023 and is usually paid every four weeks.
The Carer's Allowance Supplement is paid in two parts - one in April 2022 and the second in October 2022. And we'll receive this automatically if we're in receipt of Carer's Allowance.
You may be able to get both Carer Payment and Carer Allowance at the same time. If you get Carer Payment, you can work, study or train for up to 25 hours per week and still get paid. The 25 hours includes meal breaks and travel time.
Carer element This means that the person meets the entitlement conditions for carer's allowance including caring for at least 35 hours a week. It also includes a person who would be entitled to carer's allowance but their earnings are too high. There is no requirement to actually claim carer's allowance.
