Yes. Tiny homes are permitted in Clackamas County, Oregon. The county recently amended the Zoning and Development Ordinance to allow Accessory Dwelling Units in rural residential areas and tiny homes defined as recreational vehicles as second dwellings on specific urban and rural residential properties.
Effective September 3, 2024, accessory dwelling units (ADUs) are allowed in more areas of Clackamas County, including on some rural residential properties.
ADU is considered a special use, so no land use application process is required as long as you can meet the special use standards. You do need a building permit. Off-street parking spaces are not required for ADUs. Apply for building permits using the online permit process.
Homeowners are allowed one ADU per lot, but some cities, like Portland, Oregon, allow two ADUs (one attached and one detached). ADU size limit in Oregon: ADUs must be no larger than 800 square feet or 60% of the primary dwellings floor area (whichever is smaller).
For emergencies, call 9-1-1 | For non-emergencies, call 503-655-8211 | Clackamas County.
