Can you change an affidavit of support?

Withdrawing an affidavit of support That means a sponsor cannot simply withdraw support once you have a visa, even if they change their mind. The affidavit must remain valid until you meet one of those conditions. However, your sponsor can withdraw support before USCIS processes your visa application.

How long is an affidavit of support for immigration valid?

An affidavit of support is a legally enforceable contract, and the sponsors responsibility usually lasts until the family member or other individual either becomes a U.S. citizen, or is credited with 40 quarters of work (usually 10 years).

Can an immigration sponsor be changed?

Yes, if the petitioner or primary sponsor dies before all qualified family members have immigrated, a new sponsor may submit a Form I-864 to become the primary sponsor regardless of the status of the deceased petitioners estate.

Can you revoke an affidavit of support?

Once officials issue the immigrant visa and admit the intending immigrant, you cannot withdraw the affidavit of support. However, if the petitioner successfully withdraws the visa petition that granted permanent resident status, the Affidavit of Support contract will end.
