The main difference between a dock and a boat slip is that a dock is open to the water on three sides, while a boat slip is only open on one. Docks are usually more affordable to rent space at or built at a waterfront house, while boat slips are more expensive and take up more space.

Can you have boats on Lake Lure?

All watercraft of any kind must obtain and display an annual boat permit issued by the town in order to be on Lake Lure for recreational, commercial and/or fishing activities.

Is it safe to swim in Lake Lure, NC?

Bear in mind that it is unlawful (and unsafe) to swim in Lake Lure off the shore of any town-owned property, except at the town-owned beach. No person shall swim farther than 50 feet from the shore of Lake Lure, unless accompanied by an observer in a boat, or it is a marked-off area permitted by town regulations.
