What does the Unmet Needs Program do? Unmet Needs provides grants (not loans) and referrals to other organizations to active duty service members, veterans and their immediate families to assist with basic life needs.
The Unmet NEED Grant Program will provide funding in 2024-2025 to help meet last dollar needs of low-income students. Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need of at least $1,000 after the financial aid award package has been determined, and have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) less than $5,000.
Unmet need for family planning is defined as the percentage of women of reproductive age, either married or in a union, who have an unmet need for family planning. Women with unmet need are those who are want to stop or delay childbearing but are not using any method of contraception.
Active-duty applicants will be considered for TFA without being a member of The American Legion. TFA provides a onetime non-repayable cash grant of up to $1,500 for the eligible minor child(ren) of a qualifying veteran.
