The central theme of the novel The Guide is the transformation of Raju from a tourist guide to the spiritual guide. The novels two stories - one in which Rajus life of tourist guide and his relationship with rosie is described, another part presents his relation with villagers as a holy person.
There are allusions in The Guide made to what happens in The River, but the author handled it with great finesse so that readers can go back and read the previous book and enjoy the full tale.
