Three farkles in a row can result in a deduction of 500 or 1000 points from the players score. Another variation is using five dice instead of six.
The best strategy in the game Farkle is to carefully manage your risk and reward. This means making strategic decisions about when to keep rolling and when to stop, based on the potential points you could gain versus the potential points you could lose.
A player who rolls three Farkles in a row loses 1000 points. Four or more 2s thrown in a single roll cancels the players entire score for that turn and ends their turn immediately.
You can continue to reroll as many times as you want as long as youre setting aside at least one scoring die each roll (for a maximum of 6 possible rolls if you were to only keep one die per roll, which would be very rare).
Since dividing the two entries up as 5-dice/6-dice seems flatly contradicted by some sources, Ive updated the game descriptions to clarify that Farkle can be played with five or six dice, and Farkel is a trademarked version of Farkle with six dice and a possibly original scoring distribution.

Farkle is played by two or more players, with each player in succession having a turn at throwing the dice. Each players turn results in a score and the scores for each player accumulate to some winning total (usually 10,000). At the beginning of each turn, the player throws all the dice at once.
Piggybacking: When a player decides to stop and bank the points on paper, the next player has the option of starting all over with the six dice (and zero on the table) or starting with the dice positions the previous player chose NOT to continue playing.
Three pairs = 1,500 points (e.g., Two 1s, two 5s, and two 6s) Four of any number with a pair = 1,500 points (e.g., Four 2s and two 1s) Two triplets = 2,500 points (e.g., Three 3s and three 4s)
