The length of a publication ban will vary on a case to case basis. Some are in effect until they are removed and others are only in effect for a specified time period. Publication bans aim to: encourage victims of sexual offences to report under reported crimes by protecting their identity.
If the Court is of the opinion that modifying or revoking the order would not affect the privacy interests of another person subject to any publication ban order, they must grant the application without holding a hearing. Otherwise, the Court must hold a hearing to see if the order can be modified or revoked.
Identifying information. The publication ban provisions prevent the following information from being published: a childs name or photograph and their parents or guardians name or photograph.
Options if You Are Found Inadmissible to Canada If you are found inadmissible for misrepresentation, your options may include: Filing an appeal (if your case is eligible) to the Immigration Appeal Division. Applying for a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) to enter Canada for a limited time.

Publication bans prohibit the publication or disclosure of certain information in otherwise open court proceedings. For example, a ban might prohibit the publication, broadcast or transmission of any information that would identify a particular witness or victim in a criminal proceeding.
Victim-complainants of sexual offences have the right to request a publication ban under section 486.4 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The purpose of this type of publication ban is to encourage reporting, and has the effect of providing a victim-complainants with protection from being publicly identified.
These Rules of the Court apply to all criminal and provincial offence proceedings, excluding youth proceedings. They do not apply where a Justice of the Peace presides. These Rules come into effect on September 1, 2021.
