Eligibility for the program is based on net income. If your total household net income is less than or equal to $32,500 ($65,000 in Labrador West and the North Coast of Labrador) you may be eligible. These are the same income thresholds used to determine eligibility for other NLHC programs.
Program provides a rental subsidy for qualifying individuals or families to subsidize rent payments in a non-profit, private, or other rental arrangement. Rent paid by the tenant is geared to 25% of net income and NLHC pays the difference to the landlord up to a maximum amount.
The Affordable Rental Housing Program (ARHP) provides one-time capital funding in the form of a forgivable loan to assist in the creation of affordable rental housing units throughout the province. The program is funded by the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC).
