Dens. A small group of Cub Scouts who are the same gender and in the same grade. The ideal size is 6 to 8 Cub Scouts. Den Leaders. An adult, usually a parent, serves as a Den Leader.
A pack is the group of families in your community belonging to the same Cub Scout group. This is the group with which youll do most, if not all, of your Cub Scout activities. A pack organizes its members into dens, smaller groups by grade level.
Its pretty simple: Cub Scout dens and packs are led by adults; Scouts BSA patrols and troops are led by the youth. Cub Scouts: Adults plan and conduct the meetings and promote advancement, teamwork, fun and character-building.
The pack meeting brings all of the dens in the pack together for the purposes of recognizing the achievements of the Cub Scouts, communicating information about upcoming events, and providing a program that enriches the Cub Scouting experience. It helps the Cubs realize their den is part of a larger organization.
