Notice must be given no less than 15 days before your court date. * If you show up on the day of your hearing and you have not given proper notice of the court hearing your request to be appointed guardian may be denied.
(1) Under Probate Code section 1600 a guardianship of the person terminates by operation of law, and the guardian of the person need not file a petition for its termination, when the ward attains majority except as provided in (2), dies, is adopted, or is emancipated.
To ask the Court to end a guardianship, you have to fill out: Form GC-255 Petition for Termination of Guardianship. Form GC-260 Order for Termination of Guardianship.
It is important that all those who are entitled to know about the court hearing for appointment of a guardian of a minor be given notice of the hearing date. Notice must be given no less than 15 days before your court date.

A loss of autonomy for the ward: This is the most docHub drawback to establishing legal guardianship over an adult. Because the guardian is responsible for making decisions on behalf of the ward, the ward may not have any say or may feel they have lost control of their own lives.
A guardian can resign by asking the judge to end the guardianship or let them resign and appoint someone else as guardian. But first, there must be a court hearing. And you must give notice of the hearing to all relatives who were notified of your appointment as guardian.
Anyone who disagrees with a guardianship can let the judge know of their concerns by objecting to the guardianship. If you do not agree to the appointment of the guardian for the minor child, you will need to file an Objection to Guardianship with the Court before the proposed guardian is appointed Guardian.
