You may need to get a business license or egg retailers license. In some states, your henhouse and egg washing facility may need to be inspected. Many states have more lenient laws for small-scale egg producers. Depending on your state, you may need to candle and grade eggs.
Any person engaged in business of egg producing or egg handling must register with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). A new registration form (with fee) needs to be submitted within 30 days if any registration information changes.
With a Limited Poultry and Egg Permit you can sell up to 30 dozen eggs and/or up to 384 dressed poultry in any one week within the state of Florida. Interstate sales or Internet sales are not permitted, however. Under these guidelines poultry includes chicken, turkey, duck, goose, guinea fowl, or quail.
