The first fair, organized by Ron and Robin Ulrich, was held in Eugene over the weekend of November 12, 1969, on Eugenes Hawkins Heights. It was promoted with the tagline, come in costume. The fair began as a craft fair to raise funds for an alternative school, the Childrens Community School.
The Oregon Country Fair (OCF) hosts an annual three-day festival offering the finest in entertainment, hand-made crafts, delectable food and information sharing, with annual attendance of approximately 45,000.
Tickets can be purchased in person with cash or cards at our Eugene office. Come by the office for your paper tickets on Mondays or Tuesdays from 12pm-4pm until June 24th. Afton processing fees apply to purchases in person. Our office is at 442 Lawrence St.
As of February 2, 2024, any Fair participant who has served the Fair as staff, booth member, and/ or entertainer for at least 20 years and who is over the age of 56 is eligible for Elder Status. The 20 years do not need to be consecutive.
We are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable, educational, and philanthropic organization with a handful of year-round employees and a family of thousands of volunteers, artisans, and entertainers. We have a 12 member Board of Directors, and own the land, close to 500 acres, on which the Fair is held.
