Beckett's Grading Services (BGS, BCCG, and BVG) Found in the year 1999, Beckett Grading is one of the best and most famous grading companies in the world. The company is headquartered in Yorba Linda, California: Beckett Grading Services is a name to reckon with in the trading card industry.
As the value of a card goes up, so do the grading fees. It is quite common to pay hundreds, or sometimes thousands of dollars to have a Mickey Mantle or some other star card graded. There are also additional fees for shipping, handling, and insurance.

Currently, there are several reputable and established grading companies in the hobby: Professional Sports Authenticators (PSA), Beckett Grading Services (BGS) and Sportscard Guaranty (SGC). Each card grading company grades a variety of cards.
You should NOT get your card graded just because you THINK it will improve the value. Grading cards costs money. Money that sometimes isn't returned because the grades assigned to the cards do not improve their value.

You should grade superstars numbered and rare insert cards. Older numbered cards have high numbers (eg. /1000) and should be avoided as well. I own a Freddie Freeman 1/1 Donruss Baseball card. I like Freddie, and he's a solid player, but it's not worth getting graded.
Standard: $50/card, 10 days (20-30 business days as of 5/18/22) Express: $150/card, 5 days (10-15 business days) Premium: $250/card, 2 days (5-7 business days)
There is a place for the professional grading companies in the hobby. PSA has set the standard for grading trading cards, that we all follow. Graded cards typically sell more than it would if it were ungraded, IF it receives a favorable grade.
Is PSA worth it right now? Definitely not if you were hoping to send in cheaper trading cards that are likely to sell for less than $100 after grading. After all, it costs $100 alone to send one in; and that's without accounting for shipping, or the price of the card itself.
Truth is, the answer isn't usually the one that most want to hear. Much to the surprise of novice collectors, getting cards graded does not always increase their value. In fact, most cards, once graded, will return less than if they were sold raw.
