HKRS is a national, community-based non-profit that provides a fun, inclusive five-week running series for ages 2-14, designed for kids to get active, feel accomplished and lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
Generally, children can start engaging in light jogging around the age of 6 or 7. Here are some considerations: Physical Readiness: Ensure your son has the physical capability to run without risking injury. This includes having good coordination and stamina.
Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age appropriate running events including the 50 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run.
To engage communities and families by providing an inclusive youth running experience, inspiring kids to believe in themselves and lead an active healthy lifestyle.
Typically, kids start running about 6months after they start walking independently. However this will look more like a fast walk, trot (or waddle!). By 3 years they will start actually running and by 5-7 years their running pattern resembles that of an adult.
