Pesticide Certification Exams The Core and Category exams are 50 multiple choice questions and require 35/50 (70%) to pass.
This is an open book exam, you may use the manual freely, but you may not receive help from any other person.
To be eligible for certification, a person must pass two written examinations (core and category) and be employed by a pesticide application business. Once exams have been successfully passed, that person has 12 months to apply for certification with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
Federal law and regulations require any person who applies or supervises the use of restricted use pesticides (RUPs) be certified as a private or commercial applicator. Apply pesticides for the production of an agricultural commodity on land you or your employer owns or rents
