RAMSET | Get Your License. To assure safety on the jobsite, OSHA and ANSI require that all powder actuated tool users become trained and certified for the particular tool being used. For your convenience, Ramset provides a training course that allows you to easily obtain the required license.

Do you need training to use a Hilti gun?

For battery operated tools, a certification is not required. However, Hilti does recommend some training on how to operate the tool to ensure safety requirements are met.

Do you need to be certified to use a powder-actuated tool?

Under OSHA, training and certification are required BEFORE anyone may use any powder actuated tool/system. Certification comes only after study and passing a written exam. Some training programs also include a hands-on experience.

How long does Hilti certification last?

The Powder-Actuated Certification card does not have an expiration date, but will only be valid for (1) the tools that were listed on the original certification and (2) if the card is still in your possession.

Answer: Powder-actuated tools used in construction work are governed by 29 CFR 1926.302(e). Section 1926.302(e)(1)1 requires: Only employees who have been trained in the operation of the particular tool in use shall be allowed to operate a powder-actuated tool.
