What does no credit mean on transcript?
A CR grade means you earn credit for the class, but it will not affect your GPA. No Credit (NC) Grade. A failing grade of (F) can convert to an NC grade. An NC grade means you will not earn any credit for completing the course and it will not affect your GPA.
What happens if you pass a class but fail the final exam?
Your other tests are factored in. If you got all As on every other test and failed the final, you would still pass the class, but at a lower grade than A. It depends on not only the course but how much the final exam is weighted to the entire class.
Does repeating classes look bad on your transcript? Repeating a college class might not look bad on your transcript because some colleges will replace the bad grade with your new grade after you retake the class. While some colleges will show both grades on your transcript.

Most do not allow students to take pass/fail courses within their major, minor, or general education requirements, and some limit the number of pass/fails that a student can take. School policies may also state that students are not allowed to retake a course if it was graded on a pass/fail basis.

Grades on the CR-NC system are not included in computing the semester or cumulative grade-point average. Enrollment on a CR-NC basis is recorded with the academic advisor and with the Registrar.
