NEW WEEKLY MAXIMUM BENEFIT AMOUNT The MA Paid Family Medical Leave weekly maximum benefit amount will increase from the current rate of $850 per week to a rate of $1,084.31 in 2022. This increase of more than 27% is determined by the PFML legislation that created the mandate.
A leave of absence is typically an employer-approved period when the employee is excused from work duties. Each company often has a specific policy to cover this, such as two weeks unpaid time off. FMLA requires companies to provide employees unpaid time off if employees and employers meet specific qualifications.
Employees may take up to 26 weeks of FMLA Lleave and up to 26 weeks of PFML leave per benefit year to care for a relatives family member with a military-related illness/injury. In most circumstances, FMLA and PFML will run concurrently if the employee is eligible for both types of leave.
