What is considered a positive Mantoux test?
An induration of 5 or more millimeters is considered positive in: People with HIV. Recent contacts of people with infectious TB disease. People with chest x-ray findings suggestive of previous TB disease.
What is a normal Mantoux report?
The reference range of the induration is 0-15 millimetres at an increment of 5 mm, 10 mm and 15 mm. An induration size of more than 15 mm is considered positive in a normal patient. A swelling of less than 4 mm is considered negative.
What is a normal TB skin test result?
Abnormal (positive results): A firm bump that is 5 mm (0.2 in.) or larger in size suggests a TB infection. A positive reaction can usually be seen for about 1 week. A positive tuberculin skin test doesnt mean you have contagious (active) TB.
How do you write a Mantoux test result?
The reaction is read by measuring the diameter of induration (palpable raised, hardened area) across the forearm (perpendicular to the long axis) in millimeters. If there is no induration, the result should be recorded as 0 mm. Erythema (redness) should not be measured.
