Is there a cooling off period when buying a used car in NSW?

A one-day, waivable cooling off period applies to purchases of new and used cars when it is financed by a linked credit arrangement. Linked credit is when finance is provided by or facilitated by the motor dealer selling the vehicle.

Can I cancel a new car contract after signing?

Yes again to reiterate, if you signed the contract but have not yet taken delivery of the car, you can cancel the contract by simply notifying the dealer in writing. You are not required to give a reason for canceling the contract.

Can I cancel my car finance within 14 days?

You cannot return the car. You can sell the car to pay off the loan. Or you can give the car to the bank, they will auction the vehicle off at wholesale price, you will owe the remaining balance of the loan and tank your credit.
