In Canada, CWB certification is a mandatory element of all projects covered by the National Building Code of Canada and the related Provincial building codes.
The Canadian Welding Bureau licenses all structural welders in Canada. CWB testing is available at the Institute of Technical Trades Toronto welding facilities every 2 weeks and must be booked in advance. Welders renewing licenses are required to bring their expiring/expired license to validate the check test.
CWB tickets are valid for 2 years. Tickets can be renewed by completing a one position check test. Welders can register for a check test no more than 60 days prior and 90 days after their ticket expires.
Pressure Welder Licensing For continuity logs (log books), the licence issued will expire six months from the last date of qualification listed in your log book.
- A company that is certified to weld aluminum, stainless steel or mild steel is required to have a CWB Qualified welding supervisor, CWB Accepted welding procedures and CWB qualified welders. They may also be required to retain a CWB Accepted welding engineer.
