in todays video Im going to show you how to import PDF files you can actually work with in SketchUp my name is welcome to another video from garden design tools in todays video its a nice little trick if you want to import vectorized PDFs that means PDFs done from actual CAD files okay that youve got and you want to import them in SketchUp with the actual lines you can work with Okay so this is a nice little trick if you trying to figure out solution for this there is paid extensions in the extension Warehouse that you can actually purchase and work with inside SketchUp but this is just something you know a little bit outside the extension warehouse and just free okay you dont have to pay this really important the PDF needs to be a vectored PDF okay so if its a PDF done form an original image this is not going to work so the software Im using is a free software and its called inkscape is the 1.2 version I believe I havent actually updated lately but I think its still this on

If the drawing in the PDF is vector linework you could generate a . dxf file from it using Inkscape or other tools. Then import the . dxf file into Sketchup or inserted into LayOut.
Its quite simple to import a PDF into SU (or Layout for that matter). Use FileImport and choose the right filter for PDF files. The PDF will not come in at the right scale so you will need to use the Scale tool to get it right.
Place your floor plan in the model. To import the floor plan image, File Import navigate to and select the floor plan image. Make sure that you choose the radio button for Image! Click once in the model to place the corner of the image, then drag your mouse to make the image the size you want it.
PDF is simply not a file format that SketchUp supports.
The quickest way to import files into Sketch is to drag and drop them onto the dock icon or directly onto the Canvas.
