The Order of the Arrow, or OA, has welcomed adult women since 1988. The updated election policy, which became effective on Feb. 1, 2019, means women and girls who are under 21 are now eligible for the service-minded society.
A: For Order of the Arrow participation (events, elections, etc.), a youth is anyone under age 21. Adults are those 21 or older. This holds true for everything except housing status at events, where adults are defined as 18 and older (see more below).

The Order of the Arrow membership requirements are as follows: Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America. Have experienced 15 nights of Scout camping while registered with a troop, crew, or ship within the two years immediately prior to the election.
Youth must be under the age of 21, hold the BSA First Class rank or higher, and following approval by the Scoutmaster, be elected by the youth members of their troop. Members are elected to the OA by their fellow Scouts.
There are three levels of membership in the Order of the Arrow: Ordeal, Brotherhood, and Vigil Honor. After undertaking the Ordeal, one has attained Ordeal membership. Brotherhood membership is attained after 6 months of service to the lodge.
