Before you jump into your new career, you need an Alabama nail technician license. Requirements are set by the Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering. They require applicants to complete 750 hours of training at an approved school. You may get your nail tech license after passing a written test and a skills test.
The California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology requires the following school hours, depending on your license type: Cosmetologist = 1000 hours, Barber = 1000 hours, Hairstylist = 600 hours, Esthetician = 600 hours, Electrologist = 600 hours, Manicurist = 400 hours.
Applicant shall have completed 1,500 hours of apprenticeship; Applicant shall pass a written examination and a practical examination; The minimum passing examination scores required for licensure are 75 on each examination; Upon passing, Applicant shall pay the required fees.
Anyone who wants to become a cosmetologist in California must attend an accredited cosmetology training program with at least 1000 hours of training. These are the new hours requirements as set forth by Senate Bill (SB) 803 and the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
