How long does NBSTSA certification last?

The NBSTSA requires certification renewal every two years. Some certificate holders are currently completing a 4 year cycle and will then be placed on a two year cycle. The date certification expires is printed clearly on your card and certificate.

How long is a CST good for?

Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) must earn 30 CE credits, including 4 defined as live, before their two-year cycle expires to renew their credential. Certified Surgical First Assistants (CSFA) must earn 38 CE credits, including 8 defined as live, before their two-year cycle expires to renew their credential.

Can I take the CST exam online?

The CST exam is offered in both Paper and Online formats.

How many times can you take the CST exam?

Candidates may only test three times during one calendar year. Proof of graduation is kept on file, but an application and payment must be submitted each time you wish to test.
