How long does a PAL take to process?
This process takes 4-6 weeks (it has been taking ~2 weeks recently). The FSESO will send you your results when they have been validated. Once you receive your results you send your results with your PAL Application to the Canadian Firearms Program (CFP).

Check the status of your Application If you have not received information concerning your application within those time frames, please call 1-800-731-4000 and someone will check the reason for the delay.
Can RCMP carry off duty?
The agency allows, but does not require, off-duty officers to carry their agency-issued firearm so they may be prepared to act as police officers when circumstances are appropriate.
Can you send your PAL application online?
No. The online registration tool allows you to submit your application but it still must go through several stages of validation to ensure you maintain a valid licence and privileges for that firearm.
