Today ATT (NYSE:T) announced it has closed its previously announced transaction to sell its entire remaining 70% stake in DIRECTV to TPG Capital, the U.S. and European private equity platform of global alternative asset management firm TPG.
TPG has completed the acquisition of ATTs remaining 70% stake in DirecTV, taking full control of the satellite television operator. The private equity firm, which manages $258bn in assets, first acquired a 30% stake in 2021, in a deal that valued DirecTV at $16.25bn.
With the completion of this transaction, DIRECTV is now a wholly owned portfolio company of TPG Capital , the firms U.S. and European private equity platform.
