The Canadian government defines a Custodian as, "a responsible adult, who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, who will take care of and support the minor child.
A Custodian Declaration proves the government of Canada that suitable arrangements have been made for the care and support for minor children who travel to the country to study. A custodian is a legal adult in Canada for whom legal arrangements have been made.
As required by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada, the Custodian must be 19 years or older and be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada. The Custodian must live in Waterloo Region. All elementary students must provide custodian documents even if a parent will be staying with the student.
A custodian is a responsible adult, who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, who will take care of and support the minor child. A custodian is optional for minors 17 years of age and older, but an officer can request one on a case-by-case basis.
