To become a pharmacy preceptor, you should hold an active pharmacist license and have experience in a relevant practice setting. Specific programs may require a minimum number of years in practice, or they may require you to have worked with students, residents, or new graduates previously.
Continuing education requirements Pharmacists must complete 30 hours or 3.0 CEUs of continuing education during each renewal cycle.
To Renew by Mail: Your credential may be renewed up to 90 days before it expires. You should receive a courtesy renewal reminder six to eight weeks before the credential expires. If you do not receive the notice within four weeks of your expiration date, call 360-236-2750 or email the medical commission for help.
The Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission has adopted rules which establish continuing education (CE) requirements for pharmacy technicians. The rule requires pharmacy technicians to complete 10 hours of continuing education (CED) or 1.0 CE unit annually.
Currently renewals can only be sent in the mail and cannot be renewed online. To expedite a renewal call the WA Department of Health Customer Service office at (360) 236-4700 to pay the renewal fee over the phone, and they will provide instructions on how to submit the attestation.
