The City of Chicago issues permits for the purposes of filming on the public way (city streets, sidewalks and other city owned property). If you intend to occupy the public way with equipment and/or vehicles, or if you need to block pedestrian or vehicular traffic, then a permit is required.
Permits are issued by the City of Chicago for filming on streets, sidewalks, alleys, and other public properties. Permit fees are $250 per day/per location. For student films and independent projects that contact our office, the fee is $25 per day/per location upon verification.
The Easy Permit application can be completed online, paid for, printed, and then mailed. The owner must sign the Easy Permit Process application before it can be submitted. Application forms are automatically rejected if the owner does not sign them.
