The Static-99R is scored identically to the Static-99 except for the age item. Rather than the dichotomous over or under 25 years coding on the Static-99, the Static-99R includes four possible age scores based on time at release from prison (3 = 60+; 1 = 4059.9; 0 = 3539.5; 1 = 1834.9).
The Static-99 is administered in an interview setting by probation/parole officers, correctional case managers, as well as mental health professionals.
The Static-99 is an actuarial risk prediction instrument designed to estimate the probability of sexual and violent reconviction for adult males who have already been charged with or convicted of at least one sexual offense against a child or a non-consenting adult.
Who can theStatic-99 be used with? The Static-99 is intended to be used with adult male offenders who have committed either a contact or non-contact sexual offense, and reached the age of 18 prior to release to the community. Institutionalized or developmentally delayed offenders may also be scored on the instrument.
STATIC-99R is a risk assessment tool provided for at Penal Code 290.04(b(1). It is usually a one or two page report designed specifically for adult male sex offenders. Its purpose is to evaluate a defendants danger to society. It is most often used with registerable sex offense pursuant to Penal Code 290.
