All courses attempted after high school graduation or equivalent and corresponding grades, as shown on official transcripts, are counted toward the HOPE Scholarship Attempted Hours and HOPE GPA calculation. HOPE Scholarship requires a minimum 3.0 calculated HOPE GPA at each Checkpoint to maintain eligibility.
Georgias HOPE Scholarship is available to Georgia residents who have demonstrated academic achievement. The scholarship provides money to assist students with a portion of the tuition cost at a HOPE Scholarship eligible college or university.
HOPE will pay up to a total of 127 Attempted- or Paid-Hours towards your first undergraduate degree. Once you reach the 127 Attempted-Hours limit, the 127 Combined Paid- Hours limit, or receive your first undergraduate degree, you will be ineligible to receive further HOPE Scholarship payments.
In order to continue receiving the HOPE Scholarship, a student must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 postsecondary GPA at designated checkpoints. The cumulative 3.0 postsecondary GPA does not include Dual Enrollment coursework taken prior to high school graduation or home study completion.
You can apply for HOPE and the Zell Miller Scholarship in two ways: Complete the Georgia Scholarship/Grant Application (GSFAPP) at .gafutures.org. This application only has to be completed once and it remains active for ten years; or. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year.
