The ADAM Automated Delivery of Alerts on Missing Children Program, commonly known as the ADAM Program, is an alert system that is used to help recover missing children throughout the United States. In 1981 Adam Walsh, son of John and Rev Walsh, went missing.
Since then, Code Adam has become widely adopted, with Walmart leading the charge by holding training sessions for other shops to implement the programme.
Code Adam, one of the countrys largest child-safety programs, is a nationwide initiative named in the memory of Adam Walsh who, at the age of six, was abducted from a department store 25 years ago.
On April 30, 2003 Code Adam Act of 2003 became law. It requires that the designated authority for a public building establish procedures for a child missing in a federal building.
