Due to the large volume of applications it can take up to 6 months for an application decision to be reached.
If you are granted a Stamp 4 permission, it will be issued for 2 years and can be renewed provided you continue to satisfy the criteria. When you have been legally resident for 5 years, you can apply for citizenship by naturalisation.
Stamp 4 indicates permission to stay in Ireland for a specified period, subject to conditions. Stamp 4 is reckonable as residence when applying for citizenship by naturalisation. You can take up employment and are not required to hold an Employment Permit.
How long can you leave Ireland for on a Stamp 4? If you havent yet received an official Irish Residence Permit, you are only allowed to stay outside of the country for 90 days before another application is required.
