The owner shall notify the assessor of any change in use within six months of the change. Remember: Failure to file and become qualified means an automatic 6% assessment.

South Carolina law provides the 4% assessment ratio on primary residential properties. The alternative is 6%. This exemption only applies to primary residences, not second/vacation homes.
HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION The Homestead Exemption is a complete ​exemption of taxes on the first $50,000 in Fair Market Value of your Legal Residence for homeowners over age 65, totally and permanently disabled, or legally blind. Contact your county auditors office for more information.

Social Security Card (both spouses). Tax Returns: Redacted copy of your most recently filed Federal Income tax returns.
