The DAST-10, or Drug Abuse Screening Test, contains 10 yes or no questions relevant to how often you use the drug, how the use of the drug affects your well-being and relationships with others and any physical or psychological symptoms you experience as a result of using the drug.
Drug Use Questionnaire (DAST-20)
It is a 28-item self-report scale that consists of items that parallel those of the Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test (MAST). The DAST has exhibited valid psychometric properties and has been found to be a sensitive screening instrument for the abuse of drugs other than alcohol.
The DAST-10 yields a quantitative index of the degree of consequences related to drug abuse. The instrument takes approximately 5 minutes to administer and may be given in either a self-report or interview format. The DAST may be used in a variety of settings to provide a quick index of drug abuse problems.
The overall marks for the DAST vary depending on the version used, but typically the scoring ranges from 0 to 20 for the DAST-20 version. Each yes answer contributes one point to the total score.
