To qualify for your certificate you must: be at least 17 years old. have completed at least 6 months approved sea service in the deck department or engineer room - or 2 months sea service if youve completed a MCA -approved special college-based training programme. have completed the basic safety training.
You will need to complete the following training courses: a Steering certificate gained by undertaking at least 10 hours on vessels greater than or equal to 24 metres in length. an approved program of study which includes completion of the approved Training and Guidance (TAGS) program of the appropriate discipline.
