If you do not have a permit then park facilities are open on a first-come-first-served basis. Permits are required for larger events, upwards of 50 people, or if you are bringing rental equipment such as a bouncy house, large canopies, etc. Then you would contact the park staff to begin that process.
Permits may be obtained online at camping.honolulu.gov or in person at the Fasi Municipal Building (FMB). Online permits become available two (2) Fridays before the Friday you wish to camp at 5 p.m. HST. In-person permits become available Monday in the Permits Office.
How to Get a Permit: First, call the park you wish to inquire about for availability. Next, complete and submit an Application for Use of Park Facilities form NO LATER THAN three weeks prior to the date you wish to use the facility. Park authorized requests requiring payment are processed by the Parks Permit Office.
Building permits are required to construct, alter, or demolish any structure (including fences over 6 feet tall, walls over 30 inches tall, sidewalks, curbs, driveways, signs, swimming pools, and solar panels), and to do electrical repair work over $2,500 and plumbing repair work over $2,500 (including air conditioning
